In Light of This New Information!

How learning and changing when presented with new information is the biggest skill for entrepreneurs and big dreamers!

Hey I wrote this post EXACTLY 1 year ago!

check out the do date on this article I wrote, and updated a year ago, but never published.

It’s indeed fascinating to me how much you can learn from the internet! and if you put your mind to it, you could mine the relevant information that you needed from the internet.

In light of this new information.

This statement was my guiding thought last year(2020), where, I really believed in the concept of changing in light of new information and knowledge! It is absolutely true that when you do not know something, or if you are doing it poorly, new information and knowledge can really change the game for you.

Taking personal education seriously.

Now I am a veracious reader! but this wasn’t always like this! I dropped out of uni a few years ago when I was 21, ready to be an artist and travel the world. In the process, I promised myself that I would learn as much as I could about the world, that I would take personal education very seriously, and fill in the knowledge gaps that I had to live. I was armed with the thought that, if I have the internet, surely, I could learn and profit of any skill.

I went on to learn graphic design, photography, video production, which are some of the skills that have paid me and I still make my living off of these skills that I learned from the internet.

As you can tell therefore, I am very passionate about personal education and taking learning into my own hands. I research a lot, read as much as I can, watch educational videos over and over, trying to fill this quest of knowledge of the world that I constantly feel like I do not have.

Learning is haphazard and irregular.

One thing that I have learned, is that learning, just like building a business is mostly haphazard, and you come upon knowledge and best practices, often after you have been busy doing the wrong thing! I can confidently say that I learn a lot from my mistakes, and I do not shy away from failing! in fact, I think failure is the only way to succeed! especially if you have no tools, nobody to show you the way, nobody to give you direction! you fail, you learn, you pick up the tools, and like a new level in a game, you try again, having mastered the terrain!

In Life we need to change.

Life is like that too, we need to change and evolve — this, is one of my core tenets when it comes to life philosophy, that life will change and evolve, and if you are lucky to be alive, you need to change and evolve with it!

So much change happens always, and this has to be our constant state, that we learn from the change that is coming and that we adopt quickly and move with market trends.

A personal story.

the last decade has seen me go hard at the goal of being a creative professional.

I have won some, I have failed some, but I have surely learned some great lessons! I have learned that I was not always set up for success. As is life and anything else! I wanted to be a creative professional, but knew nothing about sales, the sales process, and why anyone would buy! I was convinced that being good enough is what would make me make any sort of money, yet now I know that people hire whom they like and trust!, also that buying is a selfish act that has to please the customer first! it is a very big change to happen in my life! I never had systems and processes! I never knew there was a system to anything out there.

There is so much that we can learn from life right now! so much! my only hope is that you are alive for it when it happens, and that you sequence it into your life!

That is a powerful statement right there, that we are alive for it! you see, we are not always ready to see the change that is coming into our lives or why we need it! that is why it is important to stay alive and to stay ready, to stay aware of life.

How to know when and what to change.

  1. Document and keep a journal.

One of the ways for me is keeping a daily journal, where I document my life my wins, and often times my struggles! what then this does, is that it floats this pain point to me, after a while, I start recognizing that I actually have pain point x, and that is why I am not making sales in my business or having a specific problem! this then sets in motion my desire to correct it!

2. Google is your friend.

I search for google articles, videos on YouTube or any book recommendation! turns out, there is so much material out there than we can consume! someone has had a pain point and figured out how to solve it, wrote a book about it and became an expert on the subject matter! which makes this entire thing very fascinating!

That any problem that you have, can somehow be solved by someone else, or by some new information, you just need to know what to ask!

3. You have to be willing, ready and able!

But you also have to be willing to change you have to be willing to try the new thing that would get you to the next level, and with that, comes a risk of failure! I don’t think every one can handle the risk of failure! some of us can, but most people really cannot!

You need to be open to this risk called failure for you to attempt to try something that has not be tested and proven!

Smarter people before us took it upon themselves to act on new information and grow! what will you do about it?

4. Learn and improve constantly.

For me, I think that is one of my core beliefs, and as I build this company, learning, and improving is one of the core cultures that I would love to entrench into the culture of the organization! I am adamant about building a knowledge base, and sharing information, so that we can all grow! I believe in trainings, keynote speeches and a growth track to develop the best personalities for the job! I am passionate about it, also because I want to be good and effective in my own work!

Do I think other people live life just going through it, not learning and adopting!? Yes! But we are not those people. We shall be life long learners; new opportunities provide an opportunity for us to learn and to grow.

I wish this for you. as you can tell, I am very passionate about this! I want to be a part of a culture that learns, that grows, that exploits all potential for growth and personal development, so that the people can in turn create great companies.
