For your Context*

a brief encouragement for winners!

The most beautiful and freeing part of doing anything meaningful to you is that, it all happens for your context.

It might be;

  1. A marriage
  2. A new business
  3. A hobby
  4. Raising kids and parenting
  5. Cooking
  6. Education and new learning.

And the list goes on.

In my earlier years in business and art, I sought hard after validation. I wanted to be told, I was on the right path, I wanted to be invited to sit on tables to make decisions, to participate. This “need” stopped me from doing more things than it gave me the freedom to go ahead and do the important things that needed to get done.

DIFFERENT STROKES FOR DIFFERENT FOLKS

When I grew up a little, I started appreciating the nuance that comes with different people, different situations, different environments. There is no way your reality might look like someone else. Different strokes for different folks.

Trying to model your life after someone else you admire, a father figure, an inspirational role model, an industry leader or even a pastor is not only dangerous, but it’s wrong.

In adulting and pursuing all that you can really be, you need to embrace who you are. Your quirks, personality, dreams, opportunities, failures and all the lemons and cards you have been dealt. This is your true power.

The true power is in the individual journey. You journey toward mastery, your journey away from poverty, your journey toward success and freedom, etc!

NO MORE PERMISSIONS

Therefore, kill the need for seeking permission before doing what you really wanted to do initially. Take responsibility for that and act accordingly. Own your context!.

THERE ARE NO RIGHT PATHS, JUST BEST PRACTICES

It would be then prudent to acknowledge that for your context, say in running and operating your business, there are no right paths to model after word for word. It is for you to figure out how best you will run it.

Therefore, not knowing enough is not a bad thing, it is in fact a beautiful thing, because it means that you will be growing and learning bits and pieces of those lessons for your own context.

There won’t be pressure to know all the right things on your first day, or your first try. Because you are aware that in your context, you are still a beginner, but you are working hard to bridge the gap between where you are and where you seek to be.

PARTING SHOT

My encouragement to you is that you be all you can become today because it is all happening in the context of where you are in life in the current moment. Show up encouraged, inspired and dedicated because no one else will run the race for you. If you win or lose, you have still won, because that is your story in that part of the journey!
